Attention Shutterbugs: Submit Your Photos for LMUD’s 2025 Calendar by August 15
Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD) distributes more than 6,000 copies of the Ruralite calendar each year to customers in Susanville and the surrounding area. Would you like to see your photo on the calendar?
Here’s the Scoop:
- 13 amazing photos will be chosen by an unbiased team of judges at Ruralite magazine.
- Winning photos will be featured in the calendar and possibly on the cover of the Lassen Ruralite magazine. Winners will be announced during Public Power Week, October 1 through 7.
- Winners will receive a $50 LMUD energy gift card. Limit 1 per entrant, regardless of the number of photos chosen.
- By entering the contest, you agree to give LMUD rights to publish your photo in the calendar, on the Ruralite cover, and in various communication channels, including print and digital, with photo credit.
Gotta Play (by the Rules) to Win!
- Photographers must live at a residence served by LMUD or own a business served by LMUD.
- Photos must be within LMUD’s service territory and may include people, places, or things. Photos from all seasons will be considered.
- Only photos in horizontal (landscape) format will be considered.
- Only digital JPEG photos will be accepted and can be emailed or submitted on a CD. Photos must be at least 300 dpi at 11 inches wide by 9 inches tall. Vertical photos and files larger than 30 megabytes will not be accepted.
- Each photo submission must include the photographer’s name, address, LMUD account number, email address, phone number, location of the photo and a short description of the photo.
- Maximum 3 photos submitted per contestant.
- Photos will be accepted until August 15, 2024.
- Submissions should be sent by emailing LMUD or mailed to LMUD, 65 South Roop Street, Susanville, CA 96130, along with supporting information. Please put the words “2025 Calendar Photo Contest” in the subject line.

Helpful Hints:
- Use the highest resolution setting on your digital camera or cellphone.
- Photograph beautiful places and wildlife. Successful photos will have dramatic colors or scenery.
- Submit photos that suggest a season or holiday.
- Show us the best-hidden spots in our area.
- Avoid photos of pets.
- Pay attention to lighting. Just after sunrise and just before sunset are beautiful times to photograph

Send your high-resolution photos by emailing LMUD with the subject line “2025 Calendar Photo Contest.” Include your name and photo description(s) in the email.
