Lassen Municipal Utility District is committed to helping our customers who may need a little extra help when it comes to meeting their utility bills. Our goal is to make sure no 1 goes without the power they need.
Our Winter Energy Assistance Rate provides support to income-qualified customers who may have difficulty meeting their utility bills.
WEAR helps with the energy used from October through April when bills can be higher than normal. Customers who qualify for the program receive a 50% discount on the first 1,500 kilowatt-hours used per month.
The application process for WEAR is simple and can be completed in just a few minutes. Applications are accepted beginning October 1. You can find the WEAR application and income guidelines on our website, lmud.org. You can also fill out the application online and upload your supporting documents.
If you or someone you know qualifies for WEAR, contact our office at (530) 257-4174. Applications are available at the LMUD office and the Lassen Economic Development Corporation in Westwood. You can also request an application be mailed to you.
Once our staff receives a completed application, we review the information. The application is either accepted or denied and sent back to the applicant. If the application is rejected due to missing or incomplete information, it may be resubmitted after corrections.
If your application is accepted, you will not receive an acceptance letter. Call us to confirm or look for the credit applied to your November use on your December bill.
