GM Robby Hamlin Says Farewell
By the time you receive this issue of Ruralite, I will have said goodbye to you, the community, and to Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD). In October of this year, I accepted the position of CEO at Valley Electric Association in Pahrump, Nevada, and began working there in early December.
The short time I have spent as LMUD’s general manager has been challenging, rewarding, and filled with great experiences. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role here, and leaving was not a decision made lightly.
The LMUD board has chosen our former business manager, Nick Dominguez, to fill the general manager position. Nick brings a wide variety of experience to the position, and I fully trust that I am leaving LMUD in his capable hands.
As I look back at my time here, I thank the LMUD Board of Directors for selecting me as GM and giving me an opportunity to put my skills and knowledge to work. As I said when I first introduced myself as GM, it has been a career goal of mine to lead a rural utility. This is still true. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the employees, board members, and the community we serve.
LMUD has had many GMs in the past, but 1 thing that hasn’t changed is the commitment of the people who work to provide power to your homes and businesses, keep you informed, and help you through challenging times. The employees are dedicated to you, and they carry on the values, mission, and vision that connect our communities.
To be part of a community-owned power system is a great privilege, 1 that I hope is recognized by all who are served by LMUD. Our not-for-profit business model puts people and communities first and foremost in all we do.
As I leave Susanville and LMUD for the opportunity to serve another rural, community-owned power supplier, I'm confident that I leave behind a strong foundation to build upon.
Thank you, Susanville and Lassen County, for welcoming me and my family into your lives and your community. I wish you all the best.
