Lassen Municipal Utility District Celebrates Public Power Week
Lassen MUD celebrates Public Power Week, October 6 through 12, along with 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities. Collectively, these utilities provide electricity to 54 million Americans across 49 states and 5 territories.
We at Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD) take tremendous pride in the service we provide to Susanville and Lassen County. We go to work each day with a sharp focus on our customers. Because we operate locally and serve our friends and neighbors, we care greatly about customer service, helping folks save energy and money, and providing the most reliable service possible.
What does community-owned power mean to you? It means you have a voice in the decision-making process. It means you enjoy rates significantly lower than neighboring investor-owned utility customers, and we put you, your family, and your neighbors at the forefront of all we do.
We explain how the LMUD board directors are elected, their duties, and your ability to vote for any candidate running to represent the district. This process is unique to public power—it’s your right and privilege to select those who sit in the director’s seats. Serving on an elected board is a serious commitment, and we thank those who have chosen to take on this task.

Public Power Week Celebration
We host the community from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Susanville Supermarket bakery. Enjoy a small coffee and doughnut with us. During Public Power Week, watch for special Facebook posts for a chance to win 1 of 5 $100 energy gift cards. You can pick up a free LED bulb at our South Roop Street office, while supplies last.
I also invite you to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at our board meeting. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the LMUD boardroom. We welcome public comments.
