Winter Energy Assistance Rate (WEAR)

LMUD is committed to helping our customers who may need a little extra help when it comes to meeting their utility bill. Our goal is to make sure that no one goes without the power they need.

Lassen Municipal Utility District’s Winter Energy Assistance Rate provides assistance to income-qualified customers who may have difficulty meeting their utility bill.

WEAR helps with energy used October through April when bills can be higher than normal. Customers who qualify for the program will receive a 50% discount on the first 1,500 kilowatt hours used per month.

The application process for WEAR is relatively simple and can be completed in just a few minutes. Applications will be accepted beginning October 1, 2021. You can find the WEAR application and income guidelines on our website, lmud.org.

If you or someone you know qualifies for WEAR, please contact the LMUD office at 530-257-4174. Applications are available at the LMUD office, Lassen Economic Development Corporation in Westwood or can be downloaded from our web site.

Once a completed application is received by LMUD staff the information is reviewed and the application is either accepted and given a priority status, or denied and sent back to the applicant. If the application is rejected due to missing or incomplete information it may be re-submitted after the corrections are made. Click here to access the WEAR application.
