Lassen MUD employees, retirees and management gathered May 11 to celebrate the Service Awards and Employee of the Year

The event was first held in 2008, in conjunction with LMUD’s 20-year anniversary. The first to be named employee of the year was Service Technician Tom Brown. Since then, 17 employees have been recognized for their service above and beyond to the district.

This year, the award went to Automated Meter Infrastructure Technician Lisa Hay. Lisa joined the district in June 2010 as a part-time meter reader. She transitioned to full time and, eventually, became LMUD’s first AMI technician.

“I am very thankful to be honored with this award, but I have to attribute my accomplishments to my co-workers and management,” Lisa says. “Without their support, I would not be here. I feel like there are so many other employees that are just as deserving of this award. I am thankful to work for a company that allows me to learn and continue to grow as an employee.”

Lisa competes during a ranch horse versatility contest.

As part of LMUD’s IT department, Lisa works to keep AMI running efficiently.

“Lisa’s attitude toward getting her job is superb,” says Thomas Plummer, IT manager. “She skillfully balances her work and home life, and her dedication to both her job and her family is admirable. Lisa is an indispensable team member, and I appreciate all she does for her department and the entire district.”

Being the district’s only AMI technician keeps Lisa on her toes, but she makes it a priority to spend time with her active family.

“We love being outside,” Lisa says. “We enjoy desert and mountain overlanding adventures in our Blazer and Jeep, competing in ranch horse versatility competitions and trail challenges, and my husband Johnny and I coach both our daughters’ fastpitch softball teams.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Lisa and Johnny compete in local demolition derbies and endurance races.

“As my husband likes to say, ‘Get busy living, or get busy dying,’” Lisa says. “We are definitely busy living.”

Employees who achieved milestone service awards are Public Relations Manager Theresa Phillips, 20 years; Business Manager Nick Dominguez, 10 years; Lineworker Neil Dockery, 10 years; and Laborer Travis Langley, five years

As General Manager Pat Holley says in this month’s GM’s message, “Every employee at LMUD has specialized skills and experience that contribute to the success of our organization.”

There is no question LMUD has the best of the best giving everything they have to help make the utility a respected, trusted and community-minded power provider.
