Get Help With Your Winter Bills

Lassen Municipal Utility District is committed to helping customers who may need a little extra help when it comes to their utility bills. The goal is to ensure no one goes without the power they need.

Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD)’s Winter Energy Assistance Rate (WEAR) helps income-qualified customers who may have difficulty paying their utility bills. WEAR helps with energy used November through April, when bills tend to be higher than normal. Customers who qualify for the program receive a 50% discount on the first 1,500 kilowatt-hours used per month.

The application process for WEAR is relatively simple and can be completed in just a few minutes. Applications are accepted beginning October 3. The WEAR application and income guidelines are at lmud.org. You can fill out the application online and upload your supporting documents.

If you or someone you know qualifies for WEAR, please contact the LMUD office at (530) 257-4174. In addition to the LMUD website, applications are available at the LMUD office and Lassen Economic Development Corp. in Westwood. Or, if you like, you can request an application be mailed to you.

Once a completed application is received by LMUD staff, the information is reviewed, and the application is either accepted or denied and sent back to the applicant. If the application is rejected due to missing or incomplete information, it may be resubmitted after corrections are made. If your application is accepted, you will not receive an acceptance letter. You are welcome to give us a call to confirm, or look for the credit applied to your November use on your December bill.
