Lassen Municipal Utility District was formed by the people of Lassen County in 1988 with a vision of serving our community.
35 years later, we continue to live that vision every day.
As we grow, it’s important to keep in focus the reason we’re here. Last year, our team worked together to create a 5 year strategic plan to identify and restate our vision, mission, core values, and priorities and goals. This process included input from our board of directors, staff and our community. We reflected on the needs of our customers and contemplated how best we could serve those needs.
The vision of the public power pioneers who formed LMUD was to provide reliable, safe, and reasonably priced electricity to the community.
Today, our vision remains in line with that, “Connecting and supporting the community we serve by providing safe, reliable and sustainable service.”
It’s important that we understand the mission of our utility as it helps us—and the community—recognize our purpose.
The mission of Lassen Municipal Utility District is to serve our community. We strive to provide reliable service at the most
reasonable cost with a focus on safety and sustainability. We continue to work toward being an integral part of the community we serve while maintaining a skilled and valued workforce.
Our core values are integrity, safety, sustainability, transparency and teamwork. These values define us and are integral to the way we operate every day.
Our strategic priorities and goals lay out a roadmap for how we plan to improve the value that public power provides to our community:
- Grid resiliency
- Power supply
- External relations
- Financial stability
- Workforce development
- Responsible electrification
Throughout this year, we will highlight different parts of our strategic plan. You’ll start see parts of the plan in our offices and out in the community.
We will also use Ruralite to share our core values and spotlight employees who exemplify these values.
To me, these things are paramount to the continued success of our utility and of the benefit of public power.
