LMUD Celebrates Public Power Week, October 1-7

Public Power Week

Throughout October, Lassen Municipal Utility District is celebrating Public Power along with 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 49 million Americans.

“This year, we are focusing on how we are building for the future to ensure reliable, affordable, sustainable and customer-focused service to our community for many years to come,” LMUD Business Manager Nick Dominguez says. “We're working hand in hand with customers and community leaders to make sure our utility reflects the long-term goals and needs of those we serve.

“Lassen MUD is a public utility. That means we are owned by you, the community we serve, and our employees are your friends and neighbors. Our local experts know how to provide Lassen County with safe, reliable and sustainable service. We are proud of our employees and the work they do each and every day.”

This month, LMUD invites community members to participate in a variety of events. Activities include:

  • Friday, October 6: Food Truck Friday. Join us from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the corner of Main and 50 North Gay Street. We will have a variety of food trucks and an informational booth where customers can sign up for our winter rate assistance program and meet with members of the LMUD management team.
  • Wednesday, October 11: Have breakfast on us! LMUD and Susanville Supermarket will team up from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to serve the “The Best Donuts on the Planet” and coffee.
  • Thursday, October 12: LMUD and the Lassen County Arts Council celebrate local photographers who won the Ruralite magazine cover photo contest and will have their photos on the cover of the 2024 magazine. The reception is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Arts Council Gallery at 807 Cottage Street. Refreshments will be served, and the Arts Council will have a no-host bar.

Follow us on social media as we celebrate throughout the month, and tell us what local ownership means to you. Customers who post a comment on LMUD's Facebook page with #PublicPower will be entered to win 1 of 3 $100 LMUD energy gift cards.

You are also welcome to join us for our monthly board meetings, held on the 4th Tuesday of each month. As part of a publicly owned utility, you have a powerful voice in the decision-making process, in the boardroom and at the ballot box.

We are proud to call Lassen County our home. Our employees and their families are invested in our community. They exemplify our Core Values: Integrity, Transparency, Safety, Teamwork and Sustainability.
