Wildfire Preparation and Resources

Summer is nearly here, bringing lazy days at the lake, outdoor activities, backyard barbecue's and, unfortunately, the possibility of wildfires.

The past few years, our service territory has been affected by large wildfires. We remember all too well how the Dixie Fire devastated our community. With a bit of luck and the unusually wet winter this year, we hope to escape this type of event.

LMUD has worked for the past few years to develop a comprehensive wildfire mitigation plan. The plan outlines a range of activities to mitigate the threat of wildfires in our service territory. Coupled with our aggressive vegetation management program, this plan will help reduce the risk of wildfire-caused power outages. As always, we will do all we can to keep the power flowing to our community, but if power is disrupted, we urge you to have a plan in place.

The best place to start your outage plan or other disaster planning is at the Ready website. You will find information on how to prepare your family, home and pets in case of disaster. You’ll find tips on dealing with power outages and wildfire evacuations.

If an outage does occur, you can find the most up-to-date information on our website outage map. You can also sign up for our outage text alerts by texting the letters LMUD to (877) 754-7697 (POWR). You’ll receive messages regarding major outages and restoration times.

Our Facebook page is another great resource for outage information. Like and follow our Facebook page. Our customer service line, (530) 257-4174, is operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can report an issue anytime—day or night.

Stay safe and have a wonderful summer.
