LMUD Thanks Customers

Each September, Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD) invites the community to stop by our office and join us for lunch at our Customer Appreciation Celebration.

This event gives us a chance to thank our customers and meet with those we serve. I look forward to seeing the regulars at this event, but I encourage all customers who have the time and inclination to stop by, grab a hot dog and talk with us. In the past, this event has helped us gain a greater understanding of what is important to our customers, what services they value, what they like and what changes they would like from LMUD.

We at LMUD value our role in the community as an energy provider and source of information for our customers. Our goal is to be your trusted adviser on energy conservation and the wise use of electricity. Being a publicly-owned utility has allowed us to maintain a more direct connection with our customers and be more responsive to service needs and involved in our community.

The idea behind the public utility is people in the community know more about what they need than a faraway investor-owned utility does. The people we serve have a loud voice in the oversight of LMUD, which is achieved by the election of local community members to our board of directors.

This local control of LMUD has many benefits, including a not-for-profit structure and open public meetings where customers may address the board and management. Local accountability, control and customer service are some of the keys to our success.

You are always invited to attend our regularly scheduled board meetings every fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m., or email us with comments anytime.

I personally invite all of you to LMUD’s Customer Appreciation Day September 8 at 11:30 a.m. This year’s event will be at our new location, the recently purchased property at the corner of Main and Gay Street. We will have tables and tents in the parking lot, so plan on staying a while, enjoy your lunch and visit with your friends and neighbors. While there, be sure to sign up to win a $100 LMUD energy gift card and pick up some great LMUD swag.

Thanks to all our customers. We hope to see you September 8.
